Book in advance to be sure not to miss the amazing half a day trip to Alcatraz Penitentiary

I've lived in this city for 16 years and this was the first time I visited this magnificent island. It's definitely more than just a prison. They landscape and bird sanctuary is quite remarkable. After the heavy rains the island is just so lush and green. There's so much history to Alcatraz. It's definitely worth a visit.

One recommendation is to ensure you get to the ferry 20 minutes before so you don't get bumped to the next ferry. I got there 4 minutes before our designated time and they turned us away because the ferry was full even thought we reserved for a slotted time.

Bring your own food and picnic there if you'd like since there aren't refreshments to purchase on the island. Enjoy!

Such a cool and unique experience. Went here on a family vacation. It's just so interesting that you can visit this island that was made as a prison. It's unlike any other tour. It's cool and spooky and you learn a lot! Would definitely recommend others to try it out!

So worth going! The tour was audio and you had to hike this phone to your ear the whole time, headphones would have been nice. The island seems a lot larger in person. There's some walking involved but it wasn't too bad. There's a tram in case you require assistance. Great gift shop!

Alcatraz Island

In summer, take a walk on the bridge in the afternoon to avoid the morning fog.

Its a very awesome scenic spot. Great place to take pictures. The views are awesome. Definitely worth a visit during San Francisco trip. Definitely enjoyed my visit to the bridge.
Everyone in the family can enjoy. Usually lot of people as it is a famous touristic spot.

Beautiful scenic bridge.  I came in January so it was a little breezy, a light jacket would be perfect.  I saw this bridge from so many different angles, unintentionally, and it was breathtaking each time I saw it.  There are many paths to walk/bike, and even with hundreds of people around, you could still enjoy the area without feeling crowded.  I didn't walk the bridge because I didn't have enough time to do so but there is a walking path if you're interested.

Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most breathtaking scenic spots in the world. You can see the bridge from a variety of places. Overlooking the bay from the other side offers the best views.

Few architectural feats are as iconic as this bridge. The bridge is an excellent place for taking pictures. It is much larger than it appears in the photos. You experience the ocean's wind as you walk along the bridge.

Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, it is a very different experience.

Golden Gate Bridge

After a trip down to the Golden Gate Bridge we were  looking for a quick bite, and nothing hits the spot like a good sandwich!
This deli had high quality ingredients, solid sandwich options, and quick service. Highly recommend!

Ricky - gave me a personal experience and brought me back to NY with a custom sandwich which reminded me of home, a perfect combination of excellent customer service and wonderful food! Always going to recommend to friends. Very helpful and polite with helping me navigate this trip to San Fran!

I got the vegetarian sandwich, the eggplant Parmesan, and the frozen ravioli to-go. I loved the eggplant Parmesan — I had a ratatouille moment back to my favorite Italian restaurant in Ann Arbor while I shoved it into my mouth while I was running into an appointment. I also loved the ravioli — it was expensive, but soft and super tasty. I thought the veggie sandwich was alight — the mayo was overpowering but I appreciated the fresh-sliced havarti — I’ll have to try it again without the mayo. Overall an awesome quick bite and to-go experience. Staff is super nice and helpful as well.

Lucca Delicatessen

Nice couple of streets where a lot of rockstars from the past lived.

Good for a stroll and a ✔️ off the bucket list. A general feel good, laid-back atmosphere. Expect expensive tourist trap on hippie wear, but the vintage is a must and Goodwill WELL organized 👌

I reached into my fanny pack and forgot my change. They said no problem. I'm from Iowa. That's in the Midwest. Nice folks. Not sure what they we're talking about? Butt nice folks.

After studying in a History of Rock class it was amazing to come and see this place, rich with San Fran rock history. Very hipster, love it

There's not much to do in Mariposa, but it's one hour drive from the magnificent Yosemite Valley and it's the closest town to the park's entrance El Portal.

Driving on the beautiful mountain route from Fresno to Sequoia National Park, you can literally see trees getting bigger and bigger on the way!

This stop is definitely one of my favourite. Driving in the desert is at the same time exciting and scarying. It really feels to be in the wild heart of America!

Coming from the peaceful silence of the desert, Vegas can be overwhelming. Still, it can't be missed because...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

Heading up north from Las Vegas, we enjoyed the mountains' fresh air and the incredible variety of sandstones, cliffs and "hoodos" of the terrific NPs of Bryce Canyon and Zion.

San Francisco is the perfect closure to this amazing trip. Even in summer the air is fresh and wandering around is pleasant after all those car journeys.

And in the end...Frisco!

This is truly the treep of a lifetime. In just 2 weeks you can admire an incredible variety of natural wonders that make the most beautiful Hollywood pictures just a pale imitation. I don't think there's a more beautiful and varied itinerary than this!
