Io ho fatto questo tour e devo dire che mi aspettavo di meglio. Sicuramente fatto in estate il tour è più bello perchè la barca è aperta, ma in inverno non ne vale la pena. Si vede poco e la guida parla troppo veloce, con il riverbero del microfono non si capisce niente.

Cabinn Copenhagen

Il Castello di Frederiksborg, costruito nel 600 per volere del re Cristiano quarto, rappresenta la più grande residenza in stile rinascimentale della Scandinavia. Questo magnifico castello nel 1859 è stato protagonista di un grave incendio che ha bruciato gran parte delle stanze. Per questo è così nuovo, ma la restaurazione resta fedele al passato. 
Il castello conta più di 70 sale aperte al pubblico, con soffitti dorati, tappezzerie alle pareti e molti dipinti che raccontano la storia dei reali che ci hanno abitato. 
In passato  era una fortezza, ora è un museo nazionale in cui si trovano diverse esposizioni, inoltre si può prendere parte a molte attività. 
Frederiksborg è meraviglioso e vale assolutamente la pena vederlo!
Per finire vi lascio con una piccola curiosità; nella quinta stagione de "La casa di carta", il set si sposta proprio qui, nel suggestivo castello di Frederiksborg, dove Berlino, accompagnato dal figlio, studia il furto del tesoro vichingo.

Dalla stazione centrale di Copenhagen prendere il treno speciale (assomiglia più a una metro) per Hillerød. Una volta scesi seguire le indicazioni per il castello (circa 20 minuti a piedi). Il treno passa circa ogni 5/10 minuti. 


I went to this castle not expecting much but it amazed me. How well maintained it is, the art that has inside and outside, precious. The best part is the church, it has many paintings and shields( I believe they’re family shields) and one giant organ on the top floor. One man started explaining the history about it and played a few pieces. It’s incredible that these places keep living. Thank you for keeping it as it was.

This was a spectacular castle and so happy I was able to visit. The audio app was so helpful when exploring the rooms. We were here in Dec 2024 and as you can see in the photos, we had a lot of the rooms to ourselves. It was so fun to be in the spaces alone and envisioning what it would be like to go back in time and live like a queen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Frederiksborg Castle. The exhibitions were fascinating, offering a deep dive into history. The chapel, with its stunning pipe organ, was a highlight. The Great Hall left us in awe with its massive size and intricate ceiling details. The castle’s beauty and historical significance make it a must-visit. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history and architecture!

Frederiksborg Castle

I giardini di Tivoli, aperti nel 1843, sono il secondo parco divertimento più antico del mondo! La cosa curiosa è che anche il primo parco divertimenti più antico del mondo, Bakken, si trova in Danimarca!
A novembre e dicembre ci sono i mercatini natalizi dentro al parco, inoltre le giostre sono tutte illuminate.

Costo: circa €24 entrata / circa 53€ entrata + giostre / gratuito con Copenhagen Card (ma non le giostre)
Ti consiglio di comprare i biglietti in loco. 

Noi abbiamo fatto la giostra del demone, ma se non vuoi spendere altri soldi, vale la pena vedere questo parco anche solo per passeggiarci dentro. 
Inoltre, il sistema di riciclaggio dei bicchieri al Tivoli è stato sviluppato all’interno del parco nel 1999 e consente di risparmiare circa 1,4 milioni di bicchieri usa e getta all'anno! Per dire “Skål” – alla salute! – con la coscienza pulita! 
Per non parlare delle attrazioni, giostre e luci alimentate dall’energia prodotta dal parco eolico di Advedore della Dong Energy. Un modo non solo per assicurarsi energia pulita, ma anche per ridurre le emissioni di CO2 in linea con la strategia del Comune di Copenaghen.
E per finire dentro al Tivoli ci si può anche sposare! (Tanto hanno quattro giorni di tempo per pentirsi...)


The queue was perhaps a kilometer long. There were so many people there, we squeezed in. We just went through it quickly and left. It's nice, but during the holidays - especially on weekends - it's tough. I was expecting a lot of people, but not so many in my dreams. It's the kind of thing you just want to see, but once in a lifetime is probably more than enough.

It was beautiful during the Christmas event, especially in the evening when the lights came on. It’s advertised as a Christmas market, but almost all of the vendors were for food and drinks rather than handicrafts, although there were a few places selling ornaments. But still a fun time.

One of the best amusement parks I've ever seen. There are many types of food and a very large area. You have to wait in line to ride the machines but they are all worth it. I especially love the roller coaster. It is recommended that you go during Christmas. And the Copenhagen card is definitely advantageous for entry.

Il tour è stato bellissimo e la guida, Pablo, è stata molto chiara. Ci ha raccontato un sacco di cose interessantissime su questa città, alcune delle quali vi ho raccontato. 
Qui sotto vi lascio qualche curiosità sui posti che abbiamo visitato con il tour:

Piazza del Municipio è considerata il punto chilometrico zero della Danimarca. La sua fontana del drago è dominata dall’imponente Municipio, una costruzione eretta tra la fine dell’800 e l’inizio del ‘900 con forme volutamente ispirate al Palazzo pubblico di Siena. Lo chiamano "Las Vegas" di Copenhagen perchè si tengono molti matrimoni, diversi dei quali vengono annullati perchè hai quattro giorni di tempo per poterti pentire. 

Il nome Copenaghen deriva da un antico termine che significa “porto nuovo”/ “porto dei mercanti” e Nyhavn era appunto uno degli approdi per gli antichi commercianti del mare. Le case sono tutte colorate perchè venivano dipinte dai padroni dello stesso colore delle loro barche in modo da ricordarsi dove abitavano. 
Per 300 anni questo è stato il quartiere a luci rossi, la zona della malavita, adesso è un posto sicuro. 
Il famoso scrittore danese di fiabe Hans Christian Andersen abitava al numero 20. È qui che scrisse le fiabe "La scatola di latta", "Piccolo Claus e Grande Claus" e "La principessa sul pisello". 

Nel centro ci sono due piazze principali, Piazza Antica e Piazza Nuova. Queste piazze furono protagoniste di alcuni incendi accaduti nella città di Copenhagen. 
Il primo risale al 1728, una candela cadde in un ristorante e prese fuoco l'intera città che bruciò per tre notti. Quando scoprirono che si trattava del ristorante di una coppia, decisero di impiccarli, ma i due incolparono il figlio piccolo, salvandosi. 
Nel 1795 bruciò una fabbrica vicino alla città e nel 1807 con le guerre napoleoniche, gli inglesi bombardarono la città. 
Questo è il motivo per cui Copenhagen è molto nuova; avendo avuto molte strutture in legno, in passato, è bruciata tante volte ed è stata ricostruita. 
Il Comune è bruciato cinque volte, la Cattedrale sette e quest'anno è bruciata la Borsa che era fatta appunto di legno. 

Il palazzo di Christianborg è stato il primo castello dove hanno vissuto i reali a Copenhagen. Prima vivevano a Frederiksborg, ma in seguito a un incendio si trasferirono. Purtroppo a causa di un camino bruciò anche Christianborg, così si trasferirono ad Amalienborg, il palazzo dove attualmente vivono. 

In Danimarca sono quasi tutti protestanti e la religione principale è il luteranesimo. Molte chiese, come la Chiesa di San Nicola, fungono anche da ristoranti, caffè, musei o spazi dove fare dei corsi. Su questa torre si trova il palazzo dei pompieri perchè essendo alta dava la possibilità di controllare la città e avvistare gli incendi. 

Il teatro antico di Copenhagen ha una storia che si intreccia con quella dello scrittore Andersen. Lui era di Odense e a quattordici anni va a Copenhagen per trovare fortuna. Vuole fare il balletto proprio in quel teatro, ma è troppo alto e troppo brutto, perciò non lo prendono. Decide allora di cantare all'Opera, aveva una bellissima voce, ma ahimè in quel periodo c'è la muta vocale e la sua nuova voce non è più bella. 
Le favole che lo scrittore scrive finiscono quasi tutte male perchè sono ispirate alla sua vita: "Il brutto anatroccolo" perchè era brutto, "La sirenetta" perchè perde la voce, "Il soldatino di piombo" perchè non poteva ballare. 

Amalienborg è un complesso di quattro palazzi uguali dove abitano i reali. Se la bandiera è alzata significa che sono dentro. 





Tour gratuito della città

In Danimarca non hanno dei veri piatti tipici, infatti si trovano tantissimi ristoranti multi-etnici. Quelli che loro considerano "piatti tipici" sono rivisitazioni di altre culture. Ti consiglio comunque di provare questi qui.

Hot dog danese: è davvero buono! Consiglio di comprarlo dai food truck per strada. Costo intorno agli 8€
Smørrebrød: una fetta di pane di segale arricchita da una varietà di condimenti come aringhe in salamoia, roast beef e uova condite con maionese e gamberetti. Una combinazione che ha origine nel XIX secolo, ma che negli ultimi anni, con il diffondersi della moda dello street food, è diventata più trendy che mai. Io l'ho provato con la mousse di salmone ed era buonissimo! Costo intorno ai 17€ 
Pølse: una variante del hot dog. Si tratta della tipica salsiccia rossa tagliata a pezzettini, con cetrioli, salsa remoulade, cipolla, e tanti ingredienti gustosi come curry. Accompagnato da un panino
Stegt flæsk: è il piatto nazionale, infatti è il più economico tra quelli che si trovano a ristorante. Si tratta di carne di maiale con patate. La carne è tenerissima e saporita al punto giusto! Costo intorno ai 27€
Frikadeller: polpette danesi

Fødeboller: cioccolatino a base di meringa morbida su una leggera base di wafer ricoperta di cioccolato

Othello: pan di spagna alternato a crema e marzapane e ricoperto di glassa al cioccolato fondente e panna montata

Piatti tipici da mangiare

Mercatini di Natale (periodo Dicembre): mini villaggi sparsi per la città illuminati e decorati che vendono cibo e souvenir.

Broens Street Food: il mercato alimentare trae ispirazione dalla piazza del commercio groenlandese, dove i commercianti provenienti dalla Groenlandia, dall'Islanda, dalle Isole Faroe e dalla Danimarca arrivavano dopo lunghi viaggi attraverso gli oceani. Con una posizione nel centro della città, questo è il posto perfetto per godersi la splendida vista sul porto e uno spettacolare tramonto. 

Free town Christiania: nel 1971 una zona militare abbandonata nel quartiere di Christianshavn è stata occupata dagli squatters che l’hanno proclamata città libera, ossia un’area non soggetta alle tasse e guidata da una legislazione interna. Christiania è ancora un centro alternativo nel bel mezzo di Copenaghen, con circa 1000 persone che ci vivono stabilmente.
E' sempre stata un'area controversa e discussa, anche per la questione dello spaccio di droghe leggere. La polizia ha dichiarato di non avere libero accesso a Christiania, cosa che può creare problemi ai visitatori. Quando entri a Christiania trovi tantissimi cartelli che ti dicono cosa puoi e non puoi fare (per esempio "no foto") hanno persino la costituzione appesa. Una volta Christiania era pericolosa, un turista era persino stato aggredito perché aveva su di sé una macchina fotografica, anche se non la stava utilizzando. Adesso, di giorno, è una zona tranquilla.

Opera di Copenhagen: è il teatro dell’opera nazionale della Danimarca noto per essere tra i più moderni teatri d’opera al mondo. È anche uno dei più costosi teatri d’opera mai costruiti con costi di costruzione di ben oltre 500 milioni di dollari. L’accesso per l’area teatrale è gratuito. 

“Strøget”: una via pedonale, lunga 850 metri, è la via pedonale più lunga d’Europa ed è una via commerciale unica nel suo genere, nonché il centro nevralgico della città, che collega i migliori quartieri commerciali del centro. A natale è pieno di lucine e bancarelle.

Castello di Rosenborg: fu costruito da uno dei più famosi re danesi, Cristiano IV, nel XVII secolo. Lo splendido castello ospita 400 anni di tesori reali, i gioielli della corona e le insegne reali.

Torre rotonda: funge sia da torre sia da osservatorio, risale al XVII secolo ed è uno degli edifici più iconici di Copenaghen. L'intera torre è costruita con un nucleo cavo, che un ragazzo del coro di 12 anni scoprì con suo sgomento nel 1880, quando cadde da 25 metri mentre giocava a nascondino, fortunatamente venne salvato. Oggi puoi guardare dentro il buco, in modo molto più sicuro, stando su un pavimento di vetro. 
C'è anche una grande sala, che un tempo ospitava l'intera collezione di libri dell'università. L'autore Hans Christian Andersen era solito visitare questa biblioteca e qui trovava ispirazione per le sue opere.

La Biblioteca reale: è la più grande del Nord Europa e al suo interno si trova una copia di tutti i libri stampati in Danimarca sin dal 17° secolo fino ad arrivare al primo libro danese stampato nel 1482. La Biblioteca Reale risale al 1648, da un’idea del re Federico III. L’edificio principale è oggi noto come “diamante nero” e risale al 1999. È formato da due cubi neri, che arrivano fino alla strada, e in mezzo a loro si trova un atrio di otto piani, con mura bianche e a forma di onda, perfetto esempio del design contemporaneo danese. 

Gefjon Fontain: raffigura la leggenda della nascita della Zelanda (ovvero l'isola su cui si trova Copenaghen).
La leggenda narra che Gefjun, una dea della mitologia norrena, avesse chiesto al re di Svezia della terra e che questi le avesse promesso un regno grande quanto quello che sarebbe riuscita ad arare in una notte; la donna trasformò i suoi figli in buoi e scavò un'enorme quantità di terra, che venne riversata nel mare creando la Zelanda. La statua della fontana rappresenta appunto Gefjun che sprona i figli trasformati in buoi a lavorare.

Kastellet: è una delle fortezze meglio conservate del Nord Europa e faceva inizialmente parte delle originali fortificazioni di Copenaghen del diciassettesimo secolo di cui, sfortunatamente, restano solo i bastioni di Christianshavn. 
Ebbe un importante ruolo nella difesa di Copenaghen contro il Regno Unito durante la battaglia di Copenaghen nel 1807.
Durante l’invasione tedesca della Danimarca, il 9 aprile 1940, le truppe tedesche che approdavano nel vicino porto catturarono la Cittadella senza resistenza.

La Sirenetta: è la più celebre attrazione turistica di tutta la Danimarca e si trova sul lungomare della città. L’autore danese Hans Christian Andersen scrisse la favola La Sirenetta nel 1837. Nel 1909, Carl Jacobs (mecenate e proprietario della birra Carlsberg), profondamente colpito dalla tragica storia d’amore rappresentata nel balletto “La Sirenetta”, commissionò allo scultore Eriksen una statua della sirenetta per abbellire il porto della città. È stata più volte danneggiata, mutilata e vandalizzata durante la sua esistenza, la statua della Sirenetta è alta 125 centimetri e pesa 175 chilogrammi. 
Se non hai tempo non andare a vederla perchè si tratta di una piccola statua che puoi cercare anche su internet (per di più c'è sempre un'orda impazzita di turisti).

I took this tour and I have to say I expected better. The tour is definitely nicer in the summer because the boat is open, but in the winter it's not worth it. You can't see much, and the guide speaks too fast; the microphone's reverberation makes it hard to understand anything.

It's a very large hotel with several reading areas, a lounge, a gym, and a movie theater. The rooms are small and resemble cabins, but I had a great time and highly recommend it!

Frederiksborg Castle, built in the 17th century by order of King Christian IV, is the largest Renaissance-style residence in Scandinavia. This magnificent castle was devastated by a serious fire in 1859, which destroyed most of its rooms. This is why it is so new, but the restoration remains faithful to its past.
The castle has more than 70 rooms open to the public, with gilded ceilings, tapestries on the walls, and many paintings that tell the story of the royals who lived there.
Once a fortress, it is now a national museum housing various exhibitions and offering many activities.
Frederiksborg is wonderful and absolutely worth seeing!
Finally, I'll leave you with a little trivia: in the fifth season of "Money Heist," the set moves right here, to the evocative Frederiksborg Castle, where Berlin, accompanied by his son, investigates the theft of the Viking treasure.

From Copenhagen Central Station, take the special train (more like a metro) to Hillerød. Once you get off, follow the signs to the castle (about a 20-minute walk). The train passes approximately every 5–10 minutes.


Tivoli Gardens, opened in 1843, is the second-oldest amusement park in the world! Interestingly, the world's first-oldest amusement park, Bakken, is also in Denmark!
In November and December, there are Christmas markets inside the park, and the rides are all lit up.

We went on the Demon Ride, but if you don't want to spend more money, this park is worth a visit just for the walk around.

Furthermore, Tivoli's glass recycling system was developed within the park in 1999 and saves about 1.4 million disposable cups a year! Say "Skål"—cheers!—with a clear conscience!
Not to mention the attractions, rides, and lights powered by energy from Dong Energy's Advedore wind farm. This not only ensures clean energy, but also reduces CO2 emissions, in line with the City of Copenhagen's strategy.
And finally, you can even get married inside Tivoli! (They have four days to regret it, after all...)

The tour was beautiful, and the guide, Pablo, was very informative. He told us so many interesting things about this city, some of which I've already shared with you.
Below, I'll leave you with some interesting facts about the places we visited on the tour:

Town Hall Square is considered the starting point of Denmark. Its dragon fountain is dominated by the imposing Town Hall, a building erected between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a design deliberately inspired by the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena. They call it the "Las Vegas" of Copenhagen because so many weddings are held there, many of which are canceled because you have four days to regret it.

The name Copenhagen comes from an ancient term meaning "new port"/"merchant's port," and Nyhavn was indeed one of the landing places for ancient sea traders. The houses are all brightly colored because the owners painted them the same color as their boats to remember where they lived.
For 300 years, this was the red-light district, a crime zone; now it's a safe place.
The famous Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen lived at number 20. It was here that he wrote the fairytales "The Tin Box," "Big and Little Claus," and "The Princess and the Pea."

In the center are two main squares, Old Square and New Square. These squares were the site of several fires in Copenhagen.
The first dates back to 1728. A candle fell in a restaurant, setting the entire city ablaze for three nights. When they discovered it was a couple's restaurant, they decided to hang them, but the couple blamed their young son and survived.
In 1795, a factory near the city burned down, and in 1807, during the Napoleonic Wars, the English bombarded the city.
This is why Copenhagen is so new; having had many wooden structures in the past, it has burned down so many times and been rebuilt.
The City Hall has burned down five times, the Cathedral seven times, and this year the Stock Exchange, which was made of wood, burned down.

Christianborg Palace was the first palace where the royals lived in Copenhagen. They previously lived in Frederiksborg, but moved after a fire. Unfortunately, a chimney also burned down Christianborg, so they moved to Amalienborg, the palace where they currently live.

In Denmark, almost everyone is Protestant, and the main religion is Lutheranism. Many churches, such as St. Nicholas Church, also serve as restaurants, cafes, museums, or spaces for courses. The fire station is located on this tower because its height allowed it to monitor the city and spot fires.

The history of Copenhagen's ancient theater is intertwined with that of the writer Andersen. He was from Odense and at fourteen, he went to Copenhagen to seek his fortune. He wanted to perform in ballet at that theater, but it was too tall and too ugly, so he wasn't accepted. Denmark doesn't have any real signature dishes; in fact, there are tons of multi-ethnic restaurants. What they consider "signature dishes" are reinterpretations of other cultures. I recommend trying these, though.

MAIN COURSES
Danish hot dog: it's really good! I recommend buying it from street food trucks. Cost around €8
Smørrebrød: a slice of rye bread topped with a variety of toppings, such as pickled herring, roast beef, and eggs topped with mayonnaise and shrimp. This combination dates back to the 19th century, but in recent years, with the rise of street food, it has become more trendy than ever. I tried it with salmon mousse and it was delicious! Cost around €17
Pølse: a variation on the hot dog. It's the typical red sausage cut into small pieces, with cucumber, remoulade sauce, onion, and many tasty ingredients like curry. Served with a sandwich
Stegt flæsk: This is the national dish, and in fact, the cheapest one found in restaurants. It consists of pork with potatoes. The meat is incredibly tender and perfectly flavorful! Cost around €27

Tebirkes: A small parcel filled with butter, sugar, and marzipan and topped with poppy seeds
Fødeboller: A chocolate made with soft meringue on a light wafer base and covered in chocolate
Drømmekage (literally "dream cake"): Sponge cake covered in fondant sugar and coconut
Othello: Sponge cake alternating with cream and marzipan and covered with dark chocolate icing and whipped cream
Sarah Bernhardt: Delicious macaroons topped with cocoa cream and covered in dark chocolate

Typical dishes to eat

Christmas Markets (December): Mini villages scattered around the city, illuminated and decorated, selling food and souvenirs.

Broens Street Food: The food market draws inspiration from the Greenlandic trading post, where traders from Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Denmark arrived after long journeys across the oceans. Located in the city center, this is the perfect place to enjoy the stunning harbor views and a spectacular sunset.

Freetown Christiania: In 1971, an abandoned military zone in the Christianshavn neighborhood was occupied by squatters who proclaimed it a free town, meaning an area exempt from taxes and governed by internal legislation. Christiania remains an alternative hub in the heart of Copenhagen, with approximately 1,000 people living there permanently.
It has always been a controversial and controversial area, also due to the issue of soft drug dealing. The police have stated that they do not have free access to Christiania, which can cause problems for visitors. When you enter Christiania, you'll find countless signs telling you what you can and can't do (for example, "no photography"), even with the Constitution hanging on them. Christiania used to be dangerous; a tourist was even attacked for having a camera on him, even though he wasn't using it. Now, during the day, it's a quiet area.

Copenhagen Opera: Denmark's national opera house is known for being among the most modern opera houses in the world. It is also one of the most expensive opera houses ever built, with construction costs well over $500 million. Access to the theater area is free.

"Strøget": a pedestrian street, 850 meters long, is the longest pedestrian street in Europe and a unique shopping street, as well as the city's nerve center, connecting the best shopping districts in the center. At Christmas, it's filled with lights and stalls.

Rosenborg Castle: Built by one of Denmark's most famous kings, Christian IV, in the 17th century. The magnificent castle houses 400 years of royal treasures, the crown jewels, and the royal regalia.

Round Tower: Functioning as both a tower and an observatory, it dates back to the 17th century and is one of Copenhagen's most iconic buildings. The entire tower is constructed from a hollow core, which a 12-year-old choirboy discovered to his dismay in 1880 when he fell 25 meters while playing hide-and-seek. Fortunately, he was saved. Today, you can look into the hole, much more safely, by standing on a glass floor.

There is also a large hall, which once housed the university's entire book collection. Author Hans Christian Andersen often visited this library and found inspiration for his works here.

The Royal Library: The largest in Northern Europe, it houses a copy of every book printed in Denmark from the 17th century to the first Danish book printed in 1482. The Royal Library dates back to 1648, based on an idea by King Frederick III. The main building, now known as the "Black Diamond," dates back to 1999. It consists of two black cubes reaching down to the street, and between them is an eight-story atrium with white walls and a wave-shaped form, a perfect example of contemporary Danish design.

Gefjon Fountain: depicts the legend of the creation of Zealand (the island on which Copenhagen is located).
Legend has it that Gefjon, a goddess from Norse mythology, asked the king of Sweden for land and that he promised her a kingdom as large as she could plow in one night. She transformed her sons into oxen and dug up a huge amount of earth, which was then poured into the sea, creating Zealand. The fountain's statue depicts Gefjon urging her sons, transformed into oxen, to work.

Kastellet: is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Northern Europe and was originally part of the original seventeenth-century fortifications of Copenhagen, of which, unfortunately, only the bastions of Christianshavn remain.
It played an important role in the defense of Copenhagen against the United Kingdom during the Battle of Copenhagen in 1807.
During the German invasion of Denmark on April 9, 1940, German troops landing in the nearby port captured the Citadel without resistance.

The Little Mermaid: Denmark's most famous tourist attraction is located on the city's waterfront. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen wrote the fairytale "The Little Mermaid" in 1837. In 1909, Carl Jacobs (patron and owner of Carlsberg beer), deeply moved by the tragic love story depicted in the ballet "The Little Mermaid," commissioned sculptor Eriksen to create a statue of the little mermaid to adorn the city's harbor. Damaged, mutilated, and vandalized several times throughout its existence, the Little Mermaid statue is 125 centimeters tall and weighs 175 kilograms.
If you don't have time, don't go see it, as it's a small statue that you can also search for online (plus, there's always a horde of tourists).
