L' Alhambra è un complesso davvero grande che comprende l'Alameda, l'Alcazar, i Palazzi Nasridi, il Palazzo di Carlo V e il General life. Ci vuole una mattinata intera per vederla tutta, ma ne vale davvero la pena. Non ho parole per descrivere queste meraviglie! Consiglio di prenotare la mattina presto perchè c'è meno gente

When we were planning our trip to Spain Granada was at the top of the list. The Alhambra is beyond amazing and the photos do not do it justice. Be prepared to spend a full day there. The palace is huge but the flower gardens are enormous and will take some time to cover. We purchased our tickets ahead of time and highly recommend doing that especially if you are short on time. They only allow so many visitors at a time.....you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend 💗

Alhambra was the main reason we decided to visit Spain. We specifically wanted to explore Andalusia and immerse ourselves in the beauty of Islamic architecture and stunning landscapes. Alhambra, of course, was the highlight of our trip. There are countless poems about its beauty, so I won’t even attempt to describe it. We booked tickets months in advance, which is essential. Although there’s a waiting line at the entrance, it moves quickly. Make sure to bring water and hats, and be prepared to be amazed. We spent an entire day there, and it still wasn’t enough. My only regret is not having a guided tour by a local. A trip I will never forget!

My husband and I did a tour of the palace and it was one of our favourite tours we'd ever been on. The guide herself was alright but everything about this monument was stunning. The views, the architecture, design, the grounds, the gardens. You can easily spend so much time here. It is so peaceful and just breath taking. A MUST visit!

An amazing cultural, religious and historical monument. I spent more about an hour in the cathedral and a few adjacent rooms. They were closing, but I likely would have seen enough in 90 minutes.

Beautiful cathedral, really wonderful that it's worth to visit. This Is an example that Granada is not only Alhambra but way more! Suggested to buy ticket combined with other places Ticket!

Cons: 
- la camera dell'ostello dava direttamente sul centro, perciò la sera c'era un gran casino. Abbiamo dormito malissimo e pochissimo (per chi soffre il rumore come me e ha il sonno leggero, purtroppo lo sconsiglio) 
- colazione non inclusa

Hostal El Olivo

-	Monastero di San Jeronimo (10.00 – 13.00, 16.00 – 19.00 /  6euro, 4,50euro studenti)
-	Basilica di San Juan de Dios e il suo interno dorato (10.00 – 19.00 / 10euro, 9euro studenti) 
-	Guardare il tramonto al Mirador de San Nicolas e godere di una splendida vista sull’Alhambra (è molto affollato, perciò andate là con anticipo. Se volete aspettare potete prendere una sangria in un locale poco più avanti, non quello panoramico. E' molto buona, è grande e costa 3,50euro)
-	Giro nel quartiere di Sacromonte 


Cos'altro fare o vedere a Granada?

Il Monastero della Cartuja è una delle opere più rappresentative del barocco spagnolo. Situato a poco più di 2 chilometri dal centro di Granada, La Real Certosa dell'Assunzione è un enorme complesso religioso che ospitò i monaci certosini per circa tre secoli. 
Il Monastero della Cartuja cominciò ad essere costruito nel XVI secolo, e i lavori terminarono solo due secoli più tardi, determinando così la coesistenza di vari stili architettonici: plateresco, rinascimentale, tardo-gotico e barocco.

Underrated tourist attraction in Granada. It has one of the best sacristies in the world. No queues or crowds of tourists. This Monastery is worth visiting.

This monastery is really impressive. It is not far from the city centre, and you can easily get there by bus, which takes less than 15 minutes. For me, it is one of the most beautiful monasteries I have seen. There is a lot to see and take in. The audio guide they provide is great, giving you lots of interesting information. And honestly, the photos speak for themselves. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Granada.

No waiting in line, audio guide is free in the building but it wasn't that fascinating, but a great location for an art-lover.

Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción "La Cartuja"

Los Cahorros è un villaggio da cui partono vari trekking. Ci sono diversi livelli di difficoltà, io ho fatto il percorso lungo il fiume che dura circa 1h perchè avevo poco tempo, ma se voi non avete fretta vi consiglio quello da 3h per godervi di più il panorama. 

Very exciting hike. The “trail” is narrow as times and that can be a little challenging. Not for the most nervous ones, but not very demanding physically.

Wonderful walk up the gorge along the river to the top of the canyon. We did this in the August heat with an 8 yo! It is a lot for little ones, but the first 3km or so is along the river, so shaded and you can stop for a dip in the cold water. There are some bridges near the top which was plenty for her, and once you're out of the top you're in the heat of the day. So we didn't go right to the waterfall at the very top. You can then either turn back down the river route, or take a shorter route back to Monachil, although it is in the sun. It's all well signposted. Luckily there is a really conveniently placed restaurant nearby as you descend to refuel! Public parking in Monachil is really well signposted and free. To start the walk don't take the bridge, exit the car park by the cafe and turn left up the street, where you'll find maps. Brilliant day!

This place has a few different trails that include walking by the Monachil River, crossing suspension bridges, a waterfall, and an ascend in order to get out of the gorge and see it from above. Lovely hike, suitable for kids.

The Alhambra is a truly vast complex that includes the Alameda, the Alcazar, the Nasrid Palaces, the Palace of Charles V, and the General Vieja. It takes a whole morning to see it all, but it's totally worth it. I can't describe these wonders enough! I recommend booking early in the morning because it's less crowded.

I don't recommend it.

Pros:
- Very nice and clean room
- Central location
- Wi-Fi
- Air conditioning
- Very kind and Italian-speaking host
- Keys with lock box
- Shutters
- "Abra Pampa," an Argentinean restaurant with a 10% discount (very good)

Cons:
- The hostel room overlooked the city center, so it was very noisy in the evenings. We slept terribly and very little (unfortunately, for those who suffer from noise and are light sleepers like me, I don't recommend it)
- Breakfast not included

El Olivo Hostel

- Monastery of San Jeronimo (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM / €6, €4.50 for students)
- Basilica of San Juan de Dios and its golden interior (10:00 AM – 7:00 PM / €10, €9 for students)
- Watch the sunset from the Mirador de San Nicolas and enjoy a splendid view of the Alhambra (it's very crowded, so get there early. If you want to wait, you can get a sangria at a bar a little further along, not the panoramic one. It's very good, large, and costs €3.50)

What else to do or see in Granada?

The Cartuja Monastery is one of the most representative works of the Spanish Baroque. Located just over 2 kilometers from the center of Granada, the Royal Charterhouse of the Assumption is a huge religious complex that housed Carthusian monks for approximately three centuries.
Construction of the Cartuja Monastery began in the 16th century, and work was completed only two centuries later, resulting in the coexistence of various architectural styles: Plateresque, Renaissance, Late Gothic, and Baroque.

Hours: 10:00-17:30 (different hours on Saturdays)
Cost: €5 full price / €3.50 reduced price
The monastery is truly beautiful; I recommend seeing it and taking the tour with the free audio guide.

Monastery of Our Lady of the Assumption "La Cartuja"

Los Cahorros is a village with several starting points for hikes. There are varying levels of difficulty. I took the river hike, which lasts about an hour because I was short on time, but if you're not in a hurry, I recommend the 3-hour hike to enjoy the views more fully.
